25 Jul 2005

This space is suitable for exhibitions of: Transport, Arts, History and Society, Indigenous Culture

The Great Cobar Heritage Centre is the regional museum for Cobar Shire which covers an area roughly the size of Tasmania. Located in a beautiful turn of the century building that was originally the admin offices for the Great Cobar Copper Mine, it has permanent displays of mining, social, pastoral, and Aboriginal history. It has dedicated temporary exhibition space which shows a wide variety of exhibitions of interest to the local community and tourists. Visitorship has increased dramatically since the completion of the major new north-south road, the Kidman Way. The Centre is staffed by two professional curators and a dedicated team of volunteers.
