The Museum was formed in 1989 to preserve the regions maritime and local history and make it available for viewing by Residents and Visitors to the Area. The museum's aim is also to provide an education centre for school children to learn about our local history..

Collections

Our collection focusses on the local Curtis Coast and covers aspects of exploration, settlement , primary industry, port development, Naval items and recreational boating. A unique feature is the "Wreck Wall" showing shipwreck sitesup until recent times Some 1,500 photographs, 900 books, plus estimated 2000 items (displayed) Future development will include the display of the Patrol Boat HMAS Gladstone
