Description:

Crazy patchwork quilt in silks and velvets. Some patches with embroidered flowers, including wattle, worked in chenille thread. Machine quilting. There is a border of velvet. The backing is silk and has an envelope opening edged with silk cord. There is no padding. There is a matching nightgown sachet.

Quilt History:

The quilt was made by Mrs. Paterson at Wedderburn Vic c.1887. It was made for her daughter Eliza Boyd. It then passed to her daughter Jessie then to her niece Mervyn Brook who was the mother-in- law of Margaret Brook whose family now own the quilt. It is not used now.

Story of Quilt:

Mrs. Paterson is said to have made a quilt for each of her 5 daughters.
