Description:

Rabbit skin rug hand stitched. Originally had no backing but a fawn felt backing has been added. 1480 x 1180mm

Quilt History:

Mrs Elizabeth Hercus made the rug in 1947. After her death her sister, Mrs. Bell Broad had the rug and it is now held by Mrs. Broad's daughter Mrs. Gwenneth Miller. It is not used.

Story of Quilt:

Elizabeth Hercus was a farmer's wife in the Yarrawalla district west of Pyramid Hill. She trapped the rabbits, cleaned and dried the skins and stitched them together.
