Description:

Patchwork quilt constructed of squares of cotton and seersucker fabrics in prints and plains, predominant colours are blues, yellows, pinks, and greens, in bright and pastel shades. Pieces are 12cm square. Backing is of nylon 'Anglaise' but was later removed due to fraying. Lace from a dress was stitched at the pillow end. Machine sewn. 1850 x 1440mm

Made and owned by Win Groves, at Pingrup, WA, about 1967.

Story of Quilt:

"Made 1967 from scraps of dress/pyjama fabrics, used as cover for bed. Made as necessity on farm. Single bed size. Originally backed with pieces of dress skirts of nylon. As this frayed it was cut off later. Some light furnishing scraps also used. Machine pieced on treadle 'Singer' sewing machine." [Win Groves]
