Description:

Square filled quilt made from floral upholstery fabric and damask which has been used in the centre of the quilt as a feature. Machine made with designs on the cloth balanced with the shape of the quilt. There is a ruffle of floral fabric sewn into the edge of the quilt. It is lined with cotton and filled with kapok. 1800 x 1350mm

Made by Florence Hollbrook Giles, 1930s. Given to the Running Stitch Group by Gwen Giles (daughter-in-law) of Chelsea Victoria. Donated to the National Wool Museum by the Running Stitch Group. NWM No.1679

Story of Quilt:

This quilt is one of a collection of quilts known as 'The Running Stitch Collection', donated to the National Wool Museum in 1989 by the Running Stitch Group (Barbara Macey, Lois Densham, Susan Denton and Jan Ross-Manley).
