Description:

Quilt, wholecloth, pink-brown satin, outer border of oyster satin (added later); centre trapunto design of flowers, stems and leaves. Feather padding; floral cotton backing. 1580 x 1270mm

Quilt History:

Lilian Chilton (nee Clark) made the quilt in 1930. It passed to her daughter-in-law, Gay Wilkes who is the present owner. Not used.

Story of Quilt:

Lilian Clark married Charles Chilton in Wolverhampton UK,in about 1959. She came to Albany, W Australia in 1963 and died in 1981. Lilian was a graduate of the Royal Embroidery Guild of London and was a dressmaker in the UK. This piece may be part of the Royal Embroidery Guild’s course-work. (G Wilkes 12/9/05)
