Traction engine awaiting transport to Millthorpe
A 1911 steam traction engine
This machine was used in the Millthorpe/Trunkey Creek district cutting chaff, clearing land and driving gold ore stampers.
The museum also has a gold stamper which was used at Trunkey Creek with the traction engine.
Acquired in 2007, the engine is displayed in a special exhibit with a raised walkway so that visitors can see into and around the engine. It is thought to one of the most complete examples of the type and will remain in as is condition as a reference for researchers.
The surrounding display tells the story of the manufacturer and the two previous owners including the accidental death of the last owner who was smothered by a collapsing haystack while out on a job with the engine.
