Big Objects on Show

The National Museum has unveiled some of the grandscale treasures its collection as part of a spectacular new display in the Hall.

Discover the stories behind the objects, why they were collected and how they are cared for. Highlights include the remarkable ‘Saw Doctor’s’ wagon, a 1905 steam engine, a 1930s monoplane, one of Australia’s oldest surviving horsedrawn coaches, and a vintage Citroën tourer that was the first car driven around Australia.

Framed by beautiful views of Lake Burley Griffi n, these new exhibits will transform the light-filled Hall into a vibrant gallery space.
